NIJI NO SHABONDAMA (RAINBOW BUBBLES)

Evening Projection on Gallery Facade from September 2020

Niji no Shabondama (Rainbow Soap Bubbles) is a large-scale projection work that brings together positivity-inducing colour, light, movement and contour, with reflections on the nature of loss. Inspired by a Japanese children’s song Shabondama (Soap Bubbles) that is actually a meditation on death, the work gently provides space for our collective grief that often remains hidden and unspoken through acknowledging a world where joy and sadness co-exist.
