This exhibition curated by Andrew Christofides, looks
at the work of Australian artists who have pursued an art based on a visual language that utilises the pure, or formal, elements of painting. Within Australia this tradition, often termed ‘Non Objective Art’, has been explored by generations of artists over the last eight
decades and Visions of Utopia looks at this tradition
through historically significant works.
Curator’s Floor talk
Wednesday 7 September
11am - 12noon
Andrew Christofides will introduce the idea of the
non-objective in painting, outline the principles involved,
and discuss the works on display within an historic, as
well as an Australian context.
Free, all welcome.
