Art & Dementia Tour Program
This program allows individuals and groups of people who have dementia to have meaningful engagement with Wollongong Art Gallery's exhibitions and collection.
Cost: Free.
When: First Friday of every month, 2.00-3.00pm.
Bookings essential: Places are limited to 8 participants (excluding carers)

Care for the Carer Tour Program
Carers of the participants attending our Art & Dementia Program are invited to attend our Care for the Carer Program. Carers are invited to indulge in some art therapy as a form of respite.
Cost: Free
When: First Friday of every month, 2pm – 3pm

This program is designed to make the Gallery and its collection available to as many students as possible. Using our collection and exhibitions, we wish to provide students with special needs a free and fun experience by looking and responding to artworks in a hands-on and practical manner. We are targeting students with special needs who have physical and intellectual disabilities. Teachers of special needs students, we invite you to enrol your class and become a part of this free and exciting program.

When: Third Wednesday of every month, 10.00am – 11.00am see schedule below.
Bookings essential: Places are limited to 15 students.
Special Needs
Students who have an intellectual disability, deaf/hearing impaired or blind or vision impaired can enjoy guided tours and workshops at Wollongong Art Gallery. Modified tours and workshops are available for students who have intellectual disability. Auslan interpreters can be arranged in conjunction with tours and workshops for students who are deaf/hearing impaired. Selected sculptures from our collection form an interactive "touch" tour for students who are blind/vision impaired.

Painting / collage / drawing / recycled sculpture / print making / ceramics**

Number of students: 15
ESL / NESB
ESL (English as a Second Language) and NESB (Non-English Speaking Background) students - developing language through tours that introduce students to works of art and their context through a 45-60 minute discussion conducted by trained Gallery Guides. A Gallery Educator is available on request. Hands-on activities for small groups (<20) can be combined with a tour and related by theme.

If the group is larger than 15, we can rotate a workshop with another activity such as tour of current exhibitions (tours are free).
Community Groups
Wollongong Art Gallery can provide a diverse range of appropriate tours and workshops to suit the needs of Community and Special Interest Groups. Contact the Gallery to create your own experience.
