Through the medium of pastels learn how to create a landscape using a variety of techniques. Participants can bring an image or work from a selection provided. Some experience with pastels preferred but not essential.

Using your own or supplied photos, you will develop drawing and watercolour skills to produce paintings with depth and translucency. CREATING COLLAGE FOR IMPACT WORKSHOP with Angie Cass
Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 September 12-4pm
Create a dynamic portrait-based composition using paper cut-outs and pre-existing printed pictures from magazines etc. Fold, tear, cut, embellish, layer, and assemble paper to make an A3-sized image. The skills and methods of artists such as Hannah Hoch, Henri Matisee, John Sezaker and Eileen Agar will be examined. Participants will have the option of making a short animation of the collage with their phone. Ages 16+. Some experience required.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING WORKSHOP

Learn the basics of traditional Chinese brush and ink painting on rice paper, using simple but expressive brush stroke on rice paper to creative a beautiful Chinese flower or bird. Appreciate Chinese philosophy and aesthetics regarding calligraphy and painting. This elegant technique is taught in a way that is easy to understand, yet meditative, enjoyable and relaxing.
