Working from your own or provided plants and images, you will learn drawing and watercolour techniques to create a flower portrait filled with light, translucency and life. CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP with Dr Fan Dongwang
Saturday 13 July 2019, 12-4pm
Learn the basics of traditional Chinese calligraphy as the foundation of Chinese ink painting, using simple but expressive brush strokes on rice paper to create beautiful Chinese characters. Appreciate Chinese philosophy and aesthetics regarding calligraphy. Suitable for beginners and this calligraphic technique will be applied in the Traditional Chinese Flower Brush Painting class.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE FLOWER BRUSH PAINTING WORKSHOP with Dr Fan Dongwang

Chinese brush and ink painting on rice
paper, master the essential brush strokes and
composition, and construct beautiful images
of Chinese flowers (orchid and bamboo). This
class uses the brush techniques learned in

and Ink painting classes. Suitable for

PORTRAITS IN WATERCOLOUR with Ann Clarke
Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 July 2019 12-4pm
Drawing inspiration from the photographs of Stephen Dupont or from your own images, you will learn how to obtain a likeness with a contour drawing. Then, using the light-filled and jewel-like medium of watercolour, you will be shown techniques from producing a portrait with life and character. All equipment provided. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists.
