SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS
Wollongong Art Gallery provides workshops and activities for children aged 5 to 14 years during school holidays in January, July and October. Artist-run activities include experimentation and investigation of various media in a casual and fun environment.
These workshops change regularly and sell out quickly, so book online early.

2017 SPRING SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP PROGRAM
2 hour workshops $20. Full day Workshops $50. GST will be added.
KANDINSKY'S CIRCLES (painting) for 5-8 year olds
Tuesday 26 September 10-12pm
Students will be introduced to abstract art through the work of Vassily Kandinsky, one of the founding fathers of abstract painting. Just like Kandinsky, children will paint and experiment with circles and colours to create their unique and original work.

MAKING CHRISTMAS CARDS (collage) for 5-8 year olds
Tuesday 26 September 1.30pm-3.30pm
Get into the Christmas spirit by creating beautiful handmade Christmas cards. Say thank you to friends and family this year with your personalised Christmas card messages and designs.

PRINTMAKING EXTRAVAGANZA (mono & scratch foam printing) for 9-14 year olds
Wednesday 27 September 10-3pm
Full Day Workshop - Create decorative and patterned designs through various forms of printmaking. In this workshop students will use a printing press to print an edition of scratch foam prints and mono prints.

CLAY DINOSAURS (ceramics) for 5-8 year olds
Thursday 28 September 10-12pm
Step back in time and discover the wonder of dinosaurs! Learn clay building techniques to create a clay dinosaur. Will it be a T-Rex, Brontosaurus or a dinosaur from your imagination?

MONET'S WATERLILIES (painting & collage) for 5-8 year olds
Thursday 28 September 1.30-3.30pm
Learn about the famous artist Claude Monet by creating your own Water Lily inspired artwork. Students will paint a watercolour background and create waterlilies with a torn paper technique.

PAINT LIKE SEURAT (painting) for 9-14 year olds
Friday 29 September 10-3.00pm
Full Day Workshop - In this painting workshop student swill be learning about pointillism and the founder of this style, George Seurat. Using the dot technique, students will recreate their own version of Seurat's most famous painting, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte.

ART SMART - After School Art Program
ART SMART is an introductory course for primary school children who want to improve their artistic skills through a range of fun and stimulating exercises. ART SMART nurtures the exploration of individual creativity and expression through structured lesson plans outside the classroom context. All lessons are taught by our specialist primary school art teacher. Enrol now on line to avoid disappointment! Term 2 program will be uploaded soon.

JUNIOR ART TRAIL
A fun tour through the Gallery designed for 3-5 year olds. Children will explore art works through story-telling, art making, songs and games with the Junior Art Trail team. The trail will end with a tea party in the Gallery’s toy kitchen, a chance for the children to play, interact and re-fuel.
When: Second Friday of every month, 10 - 10.45am
Dates: 10 February, 10 March, 12 May, 9 June, 14 July, 11 August, 8 September, 13 October, 10 November and 8 December 2017
Bookings essential: places limited to 12 children aged 3-5 years and their carers.
The Trail is followed by morning tea from 10.45 - 11.15am. This is not provided - please bring your own packed morning tea to have in the Gallery at the end of the tour. For bookings and enquiries phone 4227 8500.
