School Holiday Workshops
Wollongong Art Gallery provides workshops and activities for children aged 5 - 14 years during school holidays in January, July and October. Artist-run activities include experimentation and investigation of various media in a casual and fun environment. These workshops change regularly and sell out quickly, so book online early.
Autumn School Holiday Workshop Program 2023
TUESDAY 11 APRIL
GIUSEPPE ARCIMBOLDO FOOD FACES (drawing) for 5 - 8 year old's
Skye Zaracostas – artist and educator Italian painter, Giuseppe Archimboldo is best known for creating imaginative portraits made entirely out of objects such as fruit and vegetables. Using this as inspiration, students will create their own funny face portrait using food. 10am – 12 noon $22 + booking fee

CLAY ALIENS (ceramics) for 5 – 8 year old’s
Skye Zaracostas – artist and educator Blast off into the galaxy and learn design and clay building techniques to create your own clay alien. Learn basic clay techniques like rolling a coil, scoring, and slipping. 1 – 3pm $22 + booking fee

WEDNESDAY 12 APRIL
FULL DAY WORKSHOP Students must bring their own morning tea and lunch
PRINTED BOOKS (printmaking & bookmaking) for 9 - 14 year old’s
Tammie Castles – artist and educator Create a series of prints and a handmade book to present them in. In this workshop students will learn various skills to create a printed concertina book. 10am – 3pm $55 + booking fee

THURSDAY 13 APRIL
FULL DAY WORKSHOP Students must bring their own morning tea and lunch
PERSPECTIVE DRAWING (drawing) for 9 - 14 year old’s Tammie Castles – artist and educator In this full day workshop students will learn the basics of drawing in one-, two- or three-point perspective to create a large-scale drawing of a real or imagined cityscape. 10am – 3pm $55 + booking fee

FRIDAY 14 APRIL
VAN GOGH’S SUNFLOWERS (drawing) for 5 - 8 year old’s
Skye Zaracostas – artist and educator Sunflowers is one of Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous paintings. Using this artwork as inspiration, students will create their own version of Sunflowers by using oil pastels, markers and pencils. 10am – 12 noon $22 + booking fee

BUILD A CITY (sculpture) for 5 – 8 year old’s
Skye Zaracostas – artist and educator
Using recycled materials, students will build their own city. Who knew being eco-friendly could be so fun!

Junior Art Trail
A free, fun tour through the Gallery, designed for 3-5 years olds. Children will explore art works through story-telling, art making, songs and games with the Junior Art Trail team.
When: Second Friday of every month – 10.00am to 11.00am
Bookings Essential: places limited to 12 children aged 3 – 5. Parents and guardians are required to attend however, you do not need to book a spot for yourself.
Our 2023 program of Trails will include Thinking Through Pink, Languages of the Land and Coomaditchie: The Art of Place exhibitions.
